Estranged Labour and object relating to art?

While reading the Marx I found myself thinking about this idea of estranged labour and how it is both interesting and scary that the worker no longer ends up with the object as the end result. The object is then foreign to the worker - but then what is the object? In thinking about objects in this manner, I find myself wanting to relate this article to some kind of art theory or practice but am having a hard time. Any thoughts?
